BIO

Hello, my name is Greg Begin, living in Frankfort, Kentucky, a long-time artist. I am originally from Lewiston, ME, and have been doing various types of art throughout my life, mostly graphite, charcoal, and pen and ink. Most of my art was done during grade school and eventually, I got quite proficient at the end of high school. After turning down a full scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design, I decided instead to get a background in business to create a better foundation before going down the artist's life. I then decided instead of art to go to Berea College and get a business degree.
In 2004, I moved to Frankfort, Kentucky, and began working in different jobs. In 2008, I began working in the corporate world and started a family with my wife Sarah and raise my beautiful children and step-daughter.
At the end of 2019, I decided to renew my old-time passion and get back into art and focus on something new; painting.
I am always experimenting with different styles and compositions from abstract to realism/hyperrealism with the concepts of discovering ways to combine the two dichotomies into a completely harmonious composition. Most of my realism work takes many many hours and people often ask how do I have the patience for such work. It's quite simple really, I don't need patience for something that isn't taxing. For me, art is relaxing, I love it! I love focusing on wildlife but also work in abstract to spice things up. I also do commissions. If interested, please contact me!
